Why is the Fuse Burned or the Pump Running Slow?

(Model 417, 421 and 450 with piston pump)

You may purchase the 5A fuse from your local Auto parts or Radio Shack store.

The following are the possible Problem, Causes, Prevention, and Remedy for when your Rechargeable Sprayer burns its fuse or becomes slow.

A. Problem: Rechargeable Sprayer fuse burns out then quits or becomes slow.

B. Causes:

1. Build-up or solidified Chemicals between the pump piston and cylinder due to long-term exposure to chemicals

2. Non-dissolved powders that are trapped between pump piston and cylinder.

3. Strong chemicals that attack the pump piston and cylinder causing insufficient running clearance.

4. Spraying too viscous of a liquid

5. Spraying deck sealer like liquids and failing to flush the sprayer with cleaner (such as DAWN dish wash liquid) or clean water before end of each day.

C. Prevention:

1. Remove chemicals from tank, remove the spray nozzle for load reduction and flush the sprayer with 0.5 gallon of dish wash cleaner (such as DAWN) mix with water at end of each day OR go to D for remedy.

2. Make sure to spray soluble powder OR go to D for remedy.

3. Strong chemicals are not recommended OR go to D for remedy.

4. Do not spray liquid viscosity that is heavier than transmission fluid OR go to D for remedy.
5. Remember to remove the chemical from the tank, remove the spray nozzle for load reduction and flush the sprayer with 0.5 gallon of dish wash cleaner (such as DAWN) mix with water at end of each day OR go to D for remedy.

D. Remedy:

1. Replace with a new 5A fuse, remove the nozzle for load reduction then spray 0.5 gallon of dish wash cleaner (such as DAWN) mix with water. If the problem still exists GO to 2

2. Disassemble the pump and gently clean up the chemicals build-up on piston outside diameter and cylinder inside diameter with a #1200 FINE SAND PAPER. If you do not feel comfortable to do so then GO to 3.
